Kronologi:
Klimatförändringar och så förstås de vitas sjukdomar vars epidemier i vissa fall föregick dem själva tvingade Creekindianernas (och övriga folk i området) att överge de stora befolkningscentra ofta med väldiga pyramider som kännetecknade deras förfäders förhistoriska städer. Dessa ”städer” med stora befolkningstal möjliggjordes av ett varmt klimat och introducerandet av jordbruket. Precis som i Europa där bronsåldern var en likartad tid och där ”högar” byggdes och där klimatet också förhindrade en vidareutveckling av kulturen med statsliknande samhällen, så tynade de blivande kungadömena bort av nämnda skäl. När de tidigaste spanska erövrarna anlände fanns inte mycket kvar av de folk som lämnat efter sig en mängd för de vita mystiska tecken på en högkultur. I övrig var sjukdomarna ett gissel i hela östra Nordamerika. Man beräknar att 90 procent av den den gamla befolkning försvann. Kvar blev en ganska välmående, men mer typiskt indianskt jordbruks, jakt och samlarkultur.
800 f kr - 1600 Tiden före de vitas ankomst. Indiansk forntid med expansiva kulturcentra och stora befolkningskoncentrationer. Kulturell nedgång orsakad av klimatförändringar och senare förstärkt av epidemiska sjukdomar.
1492 Columbus återupptäcker den amerikanska dubbelkontinenten.
1540 Den spanske erövraren Hernando DeSoto var den förste europe som genomkorsade Sydösterns inland.
På grund av spanska kolonisters övervåld allierade sig Muscogee med engelsmännen.
1810 - Industrialismen i England behöver mängder av bomull. Sydöstra USA lämpar sig väl för bomullsodling och de vitas pockande efter indianlandet ökar dramatiskt.
1812-års krig, sammanfaller med shawneeledaren Tecumsehs försök att ena östindianerna. Leder bl a till Upproret 1813-1814 kvästes av Andrew Jackson. Senare fördrevs stammarna västerut till indianterritoriet i Oklahoma under det tidiga 1800-talets etniska rensning av indianer öster om Mississippi. (Indian removal).
