Abenakis, kallade Abenaqis av fransmännen kom senare till en del att uppfattas som en del i det bildade Wababankiförbundet.
1604 - Samuel de Champlain möter Abenakis vid mynningen av Penobscotfloden.
1613 - Jesuitprästerna Pierre Biard (+) och Enemond Massé (+)försöker att grunda en mission bland Abenakis på Mount Desert Island, men den förstördes av Samuel Argall,som agerar på uppdrag av guvernören i Virgien. Kort efter Argalls raid bygger Claude La Tour en pälshandelspostering kallad Fort Pentagoët vid Penobscotfloden.
1643 - Jesuitprästen Gabriel Druillettes börjar missionsarbete bland Abeakis, och så gjorde även Capuchinerordern.
1670 - Abenakierna accepterade ett ledarskap av en fransk ädling baron de Saint-Castin (+) under vilkens ledning de blir synnerligen fientligt ställda mot de engelska kolonierna i New England.
1675 - Nya Engländarna attackerar en stor grupp Abenakis, dödar många och tar många tillfånga. Återstoden av den Abenakigruppen tar sin tillflykt till Quebec och placeras i missionsbyarna Sillery , Saint-Francois-de-Sales (Sault-de-la-Chaudière) vid Chaudiérefloden, vid Saint-Francois-du-Lac (St Francis) vid St Francoisfloden och i Bécancour.
1700 - Abenakis i Sillery Sault-de-la-Chaudière flyttas till Sainte-Francois-du-Lac.
Abenakis i Nya Frankrikes missionsbyar och de som stannat i Maine deltog på fransmännens sida i Kung Williams krig (1689-97) och Drottning Annes krig (1702-13).
1714 - Abenakis som levde kvar i Maine decimeras ytterligare när en engelsk styrka genomför en straffexpediton mot framförallt missionsbyarna. Norridgewock brändes och missionären Sebastien Rasles (+) dödades. Abenakis tar sin tillflykt till Louisbourg och Saint-Francois-du-Lac och Bécancour.
1756-73 Under Sjuårskriget slåss Abenakis åter och de brittiska kolonisterna kommer att hata dem som ”St Francisindianer”.
1759 - Robert Rogers anfaller och bränner Saint-Francois-du-Lac som vedergällning för Abenakiradier. Byn återuppbyggs sedermera och Abenakis som varit aktiva vid St Louisbourg flyttar dit.
Saint Francois-du-Lac och Bécancour har förblivit Abenakiska bosättningar, fast numer finns inte många i Bécancour. I januari 1962 fanns det 541 Abenakis vid Saint Francois-du-Lac men bara 39 i Bécancour.
